History
Like other Colorado towns, the Copper Mountain Ski area had routes in the gold mining era in the 1880s. It wasn’t until 1971 that Chuck Lewis founded the ski area with a purchase of only 280 acres. Flash forward to the present, Copper Mountain now has 2,490 skiable acres and a friendly family vibe that locals and visitors alike have come to love.
