A Guide to Parking in Breckenridge
01/12/2024
It’s no secret that Breckenridge has become an extremely popular tourist destination. Breckenridge hosts well over a million skiers a season. And that doesn’t even include the people who visit just to get away from bigger cities and enjoy the charm of our mountain town. With these crowds, of course comes the traffic. Whether you’re looking to drop your car and ski from first chair to last, or you want to explore the Historic Main Street, Breckenridge offers a variety of parking options.
Where is the best parking for skiing?
Parking in Breckenridge can sometimes be a headache, especially on Holiday weekends or when the town hosts big events (like the International Snow Sculpture Championship). But if you have a plan of attack and know what you’re looking for, parking can be a little easier. Breckenridge has an abundance of parking lots that offer different rates that should be kept in mind when you’re planning your day.
Gondola Lots
The Town of Breckenridge understands that the majority of our winter visitors are here with the anticipation of skiing. The most convenient lots for skiing are the North Gondola Lot and the newly constructed South Gondola Garage. These lots surround the Gondola at the base of the Ski Resort with options to ride right up to Peak 7 or Peak 8. At the end of the day, take the Four O’clock Ski Run to Gondola Ski Back to ski right back to the parking lots. The convenience of these lots is well known however, and are typically the first to fill up.
Tiger Dredge and F Lot
These lots sit side-by-side on the South end of Breckenridge. When parking in these lots, you have a few options to get to the ski area. You can either walk to the base of Peak 9 to the Quicksilver Lift, or you can hop on one of three buses that stop right at F Lot. The Gold Express will take you all the way to Peaks 7 and 8. The Brown and Yellow Routes will take you to the Snowflake Lift or to Beaver Run. All of these buses will also take you to the base of the Gondola. At the end of the day you have the option to ski back down to the base of Peak 9 or Lower Four O’clock and then walk the short distance back to your vehicle.
Wellington Lot
The Wellington Lot is a smaller lot located about a block from the Base of the Gondola. When parking here, you can take a short walk to the base of the Gondola.
Where is the best parking for restaurants and retail?
If skiing isn’t your cup of tea or you want to check out some clothing stores or grab a bite to eat, Breckenridge offers the option to pay-to-park right on Main Street! Park right out front of your favorite restaurant and then explore all of the other unique stores right along Main Street.
Is there any free parking in Breckenridge?
If you’re looking to ski on a budget or you’d prefer not to have to pay for parking so you can spend your money elsewhere, Breckenridge does offer a few options for free parking. The Airport Road Lot North of town offers free skier parking during the day. The Red Bus will come and pick you up right in the lot and drop you off at the base of the Gondola. The Ice Rink Lot offers free parking from 6AM – 2AM. The Brown, Ice Rink, and Trolley Routes all service this lot and give you options to ride to Beaver Run or the base of the base of the Gondola.
Some of the previously mentioned lots are also free during certain times of the day. The Tiger Dredge Lot is free after 3pm in the Winter and F Lot is free after 5pm in the Winter. The Wellington Lot is free after 3pm year-round.
If you’re either short-term renting or you are staying in your own property, you may not even need to worry about where to park your car. Breckenridge offers a free bus system with multiple different stops throughout Breckenridge. This bussing system offers easy access to the base of the gondola and a few other lifts around the ski area.
