After graduating from the University of Texas, working 5 summers in Yellowstone Park as a park ranger, and traveling about the world; Sterling settled in Denver working in sales and marketing for a Fortune 500 company. With an investment in land next to Vail, he expanded into the real estate field by moving to Breckenridge in 1969 to manage one of only 3 real estate offices located in the community. That, in turn, led to starting a general brokerage firm with two partners marketing Copper Mountain and Keystone ski areas in their ground floor years. His 40+ years in the real estate field include owner/developer, subdividing raw ground, HOA boards, owning and managing multiple properties and careful placement of new and existing buyers in real estate to the mountains.
Sterling and Nancy have been married for 41 years and are living in the same home they built in 1972, south of Breckenridge. They have two sons born, educated and reared in Breckenridge who grew up skiing, hunting, fishing and camping through out the mountains.
